Derek and I were married in 2003 on my home farm where we had first met some eight years before. I grew up on a conventional potato farm on the Wilmot River and spent many days riding horses and giving trail rides during the summer months. We met at the horse stable and still enjoy and own five horses today. Derek grew up in Summerside on a beautiful piece of property right in the middle of town. His father was a avid race horse fan and owned several great horses. We still own three of his horses today, Pontiac Marge, Burnin Boy and Money Master.

Derek attended the University of New Brunswick and obtained his computer science degree in 2004. I attended Sir Sandford Fleming College and graduated with my Ecosystem Management Techonologist Diploma in 2002.

We knew we wanted to farm to some degree and once we both finished school and started working full time we decided to start looking for a farm and in the fall of 2006 we found our own piece of paradise. Nestled in the hills of Brookvale we can look out our kitchen window and see the snowboarders and skiers in the winter on the ski hill and watch all the mountain bikers come to the nordic ski park in the summer.

We decided in the Summer of 2007 that I (Jen) would leave my job in the spring of 2008 to pursue farming full time. Working full time and trying to grow the business was very hard and we could see termendous growth so I decided to jump right on in. I love being home on the farm.
